Study on lung transplantation encompassing a comprehensive and detailed investigation of differences at transcription level between DBD and DCD donor lungs. Overall design: Lung tissue samples were collected at the end of cold ischemia (CIT), at University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. Lungs were donated by brain-death donors (DBD) and cardiac-death donors (DCD). Selected lungs were placed on the Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) circuit for assesment and repair and all other lungs were directly transplanted (Non-EVLP).
