Staphylococcus aureus is implicated in many cases of myositis, but blood cultures are unlikely to be positive. We analyzed the whole genome sequence of Staphylococcus aureus that could be isolated from patients with primary bacterial intercostal hyperemic myositis by repeated blood cultures in Japan.
