Seasonal variation in near-surface seasonally thawed active layer and permafrost soil microbial communities

This study examines variation in bacterial and fungal communities in the top 100 cm of soil from summer through late fall. While seasonal variation in cold-regions soil microbial communities has been documented previously, our understanding of intra-annual patterns, drivers, and consequences remains limited. We contribute to this literature by comparing microbial community variation to measured pore water metal concentrations, soil nutrients, pH, and temperature.
