Nitrosomonas mobilis is the chemolithoautotrophic ammonia oxidizer which performs the oxidation of ammonia to nitrite in first step of nitrification and plays an important role in biological wastewater treatment systems. This organism uses ammonia and carbon dioxide for its growth and energy. It also can grow in the media with high ammonia and nitrite concentrations, which makes the advantages of this organism to be habitat at the environment such as wastewater treatment systems where ammonia and nitrite concentrations are high.
