Investigation of Magnetic Ground State of a Potential Kitaev Quantum Spin Liquid Candidate

Na2Co2RuO6 (NCRO) is a newly synthesized compound that crystallizes in the hexagonal P6322 structure. NCRO is a prospective Kitaev-type quantum spin liquid (QSL) candidate, as evidenced by the absence of long-range magnetic ordering down to 2 K, despite the strong antiferromagnetic interactions as indicated by a Curie-Weiss temperature of –126 K. This suggests significant spin frustration. In order to investigate this quantum spin liquid (QSL) candidate, we have implemented bulk magnetic measurements and heat capacity experiments. Nevertheless, The objective of this proposal is to get a compact understanding of the intriguing magnetic ground state of this system. We will do both ZF and LF muSR at a temperature range of 60 mK to 200 K, to explore if there is magnetic ordering or topological ordering beyond the Landau-Ginzburg paradigm of symmetry breaking present below 2 K.
