Cancer cell lines are valuable tools for elucidating the underlying molecular mechanism from carcinogenesis to treatment strategies. Several patient-derived cell lines from CCA tumor tissues have been established with various gross pathological and histological subtypes. The number of CCA cell lines has been reported to be approximately 75 worldwide10. We established cell lines, including KKU-100, KKU-M213, KKU-023, and KKU-452 from CCA tumors collected from CCA patients of the northeast Thailand endemic of OV- infestation11-13. Patient-derived CCA cell lines are simple models representing the malignant characteristics of their tumor origin. To better understand CCA carcinogenesis with distinct molecular and phenotypic characteristics, several CCA cell lines should be established as research tools to refine effective therapeutics for CCA treatment.
