GERHART HAUPTMANN UND DER NATURALISMUS

This article examines Gerhart Hauptmann as the most significant representative of German Naturalism and his contributions to the literary movement. It analyzes the main characteristics of Naturalism, including the Milieu theory, the second-by-second style, and the unvarnished depiction of social reality. Special attention is given to Hauptmann's dramas "Vor Sonnenaufgang" and "Die Weber", which exemplify the naturalistic approach to social criticism and the portrayal of human existence under deterministic conditions. The study highlights how Hauptmann's works reflect the social problems of the late 19th century and their continued relevance today.
