Genom-wide expression study of cMoP and monocytes from murine bone marrow compared to their differentiated descendants

cMoP and monocytes differ in their potential to form multinucleated giant cells (MGC) in reaction to mycobacterial ligands. The aim of this expression analysis was the identification of transcriptional differences undelying the mechanisms of MGC formation. cMoP and monocytes were collected from the bone marrow of 3 pooled Cx3cr1+/GFP C57Bl/6 mice by fluorescence-activated cell sorting. The subsets were collected directly or cultured either with M-CSF alone or additionally with lipomannan from M. smegmatis. For each subset, two replicates were purified from 2 independent litters.
