A ceramic inlay in automotive component， such as a trim panel is provided by grinding a ceramic， such as porcelain， into a powder， mixing it with a resin， such as epoxy resin to form a paste and filling recesses in the component with the paste. The paste is cured， and smoothed to the surface of the panel. Then， the panel is lacquered.
