资源简介:
This FAIRsharing record describes: Natural products, also known as specialized or secondary metabolites, are small molecules produced by many organisms. These chemical compounds often show strong biological activities, making them interesting for medicine, agriculture, and other fields. Their biosynthesis is governed by a set of enzymes, which can be separated into gatekeeper/core enzymes, and tailoring enzymes. The latter modify the nascent natural products, giving them their final form, and often confer their biological activity. Tailoring enzymes show a wide range of substrate- and reaction-specificities, but currently there is no appropriate way to make this information easily findable, accessible, and machine-readable. The Minimum Information about a Tailoring Enzyme (MITE) data standard was created to facilitate consistent and systematic deposition and retrieval of data on tailoring enzymes. Each MITE entry contains information on a single enzyme: its reaction(s), substrate specificities, known substrate-product pairs, and additional metadata.
