Canadian Gallup Poll, December 1977, #407

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on predominantly political issues. The questions ask opinions about Trudeau's policy, the Constitution and other important political issues within the country and overseas. There are also questions on other topics of interest and importance to the country and government, such as the power of the R.C.M.P, discipline in schools and whether or not church properties should be taxed. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographical and social variables. Topics of interest include: the actions of the R.C.M.P during cases of national security; attending school; the best body to authorize R.C.M.P. action; the chances of an Authoritarian government; the chances of Quebec separation; discipline in schools; the effects of bringing the Constitution to Canada; establishing an independent Palestinian Nation; impressions of the members of the House of Commons; whether or not Israel should return land back to the Arabs; the power of the R.C.M.P.; removing the British Constitution; taxing church properties; Trudeau's policy; watching the House of Commons on television; what the Canadian Constitution should include; and who is responsible for discipline in schools. Basic demographic variables are also included.
