This dataset consists of snow depth observations derived from 284 World Meteorological Organization (WMO) stations in Russia and the former Soviet Union. It has a spatial coverage ranging from 35°N to 75°N and 20°E to 180°E, with a temporal span from 1881 (the year when the earliest station was established) to 1995. Additionally, this dataset also contains snow cover fraction, snow characteristics, station information and other relevant contents, and is stored in ASCII format. The quality control of this version has been improved compared to the previous Version 1.0.
