NRS-19033 | Report on construction of Lord Howe Island jetty for Lord Howe Island Board [Public Works]

This series consists of a report produced by the Department of Public Works detailing the construction of a new jetty on Lord Howe Island in 1982.The jetty was built to replace an existing badly deteriorated jetty dating from 1956 in an effort to avoid the need to use lighters or barges to bring heavy goods on to the island. The report details the construction plant used, costs, labour used, construction methods and procedures, piling, timberwork, tendering and the demolition of the old jetty. It also includes a set-out plan of pile positions for the jetty and photographs of its construction. Pearson Bridge (NSW) Pty Ltd were contracted by the Department of Public Works to build the jetty.
