Diagnostic Value of mNGS for Identification of Pathogens and Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Infections Diseases

We retrospectively analyzed the detection results of Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) and traditional methods in 134 cases of infectious clinical specimens, especially reported the consistency between ARGs with the drug resistance phenotype of multidrug resistance A. baumannii strains and its evolutionary relationship, which were rarely studied before. The results from our study showed that mNGS had a higher sensitivity than conventional microbiological tests and culture method, and there was a high consistency between these ARGs with the drug resistance phenotypes. Multidrug resistance A. baumannii strains detected in our study were classified into three groups, and most strains were well-clustered. Those findings suggested that the result of ARGs frequency and cluster analysis of A. baumannii may have great significance to control nosocomial infection.
