«Poiché il vero non può contraddire il vero». Leonardo da Vinci, l'anatomia e l'immortalità dell'anima

The essay deals with the cultural and religious climate in Rome during the papacy of Leo X connected to anatomical studies of which Leonardo was an important interpreter. In particular, the article shows how philosophical research, during the Vth Lateran Council, has become a field of repression for the Church of Rome, because of the thesis on the immortality of the soul due to the anatomies performed on the fetuses. Even Leonardo da Vinci, during his Roman stay and in the course of his research, had to face the widespread diffidence on anatomies, from which deductions were drawn alongside heresy.
