In this study, using high-throughput DNA sequencing, we investigated the molecular diversity of benthic foraminifera from two seamounts (named Y3 and M2) and adjacent abyssal plains (named DY) of the tropical Western Pacific Ocean. A total of 16 sediment samples (from 16 sites) were collected in three cruises during 2014 -2016 (7 from DY Section, 5 from Y3 Seamount, and 4 from M2 Seamount), covering depths between 263 m to 5,900 m. A region (about 300 bp) of the SSU (small subunit, 18S) rRNA gene was amplified with the foraminiferal-specific primers (s14F3-s17). The partial SSU rDNA was sequenced by Illumina Hi-seq 2500 platform.
