The aim of this study was to systematically characterize the structure and function of the intestinal microbiome of Tibetan sheep and to explore the mechanisms linking it to production performance (e.g., meat quality) in Tibetan sheep. Specific objectives includeMicrobiome characterization: To reveal the composition, diversity and major functional groups of intestinal microorganisms in Tibetan sheep through high-throughput sequencing (e.g. 16S rDNA gene sequencing).Environmental adaptation: To investigate how the Tibetan sheep microbiome contributes to host adaptation to the extreme environment of the plateau through the synthesis of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), energy metabolism and immune regulation.Optimization of production performance: Identify microbial markers associated with meat quality and feed conversion in Tibetan sheep to provide a basis for improving livestock efficiency through microbial regulation.
