The widespread use of antibiotics has resulted in a growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) worldwide. In recent years, a growing number of studies have confirmed the role of gut microbes as reservoirs of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in humans and animals, but there has been limited research on endangered wildlife. The structure and function of the gut bacterial community of crested ibis, an endangered wild animal in the world, and the ARGs they carry in the gut of crested ibis are still unclear.
