Background: In the information era, mobile phone addiction has attracted more and more researches' attention. In order to improve mobile phone addiction, the current study explored its influencing factors, especially the relationship between alexithymia, boredom proneness, anxiety and mobile phone addiction among Chinese college students; (2) Methods: A total of 354 Chinese college students (female: 49.7%; mean age: M =19.30±1.28 years old) completed the Toronto Alexithymia Scale, the Boredom Proneness Scale-Short Form, the Symptom Check List 90, and the Mobile Phone Addiction Index; (3) Results: Regression analysis showed that alexithymia was positively and significantly predicted mobile phone addiction. Multiple mediation modeling demonstrated that alexithymia could indirectly affect mobile phone addiction through boredom proneness and anxiety; (4) Conclusions: The findings of the present study suggests that alexithymia can predict mobile phone addiction directly and indirectly through boredom proneness and anxiety. The current study contributes to understand college students' mobile phone addiction more comprehensively and profoundly, as well as to the formulate intervention measures to improve college students' mobile phone addiction.
