PyCIRAS Reproduction Package

Companion reproduction package for the study “Do We Practice What We Preach? An Exploratory Introspective Analysis of ICSE Research Artifacts”.

The package contains the PyCIRAS repository-mining tool, the archived mined dataset, deterministic analysis scripts, manual artifact-role labels, supporting per-repository classification signals, and generated outputs used to reproduce the reported results.

The study analyzes 90 badged, Python-based ICSE Artifact Evaluation repositories from 2019–2023, covering git process data, static code quality, unit testing practices, GitHub star correlations, and a purpose-based artifact-role typology.

The recommended reproduction path uses the archived dataset in reproduction-package/2024-03-29_11-30.zip together with the scripts in analysis/. Re-running the mining tool against live GitHub repositories is optional and may produce different results because repositories, APIs, and dependencies can change over time.
