Heme-induced genes in the tsetse fly endosymbiont Sodalis glossinidius

Tsetse flies feed exclusively on vertebrate blood. The endosymbiont, Sodalis glossinidius, resides intra and extracellularly within tsetse's midgut, and as such, the bacterium is exposed to high levels of heme each time its fly host feeds. The goal of this study is to acquire insight into the molecular mechanisms that underlie Sodalis heme metabolism.
