LGBTQ Europe: Rainbow Europe score for rights of LGBTI people in France 2024

France was ranked 13th out of 49 European countries in terms of the legal, political, and human rights of its LGBTI citizens and residents in 2024, with a total score of 62.1 percent according to Rainbow Europe. Across a range of different indicators, France performs moderately well, with strong provision for LGBTI civil society groups, family rights, and asylum protections. On the other hand, France performs less well regarding hate crime and hate speech, and regarding intersex bodily integrity, with Rainbow Europe finding that France has no legal provisions to protect intersex people from genital mutilation at a young age.
