SaxTimbre: A Tenor Saxophone Extended Techniques Dataset

SaxTimbre is a curated audio dataset dedicated to the timbral diversity of the tenor saxophone. It comprises 191 high-quality recordings spanning conventional and extended playing techniques—including vibrato and non-vibrato long tones, quarter-tones, subtones, flutter-tonguing, slap notes, bisbigliando, growling, and multiphonics—across multiple registers and dynamic levels. The dataset is designed to support research in timbre analysis, sound synthesis, music information retrieval, and contemporary music studies, with a particular focus on modeling extended instrumental techniques and timbre spaces in Western art music.
