Shinkaicaris leurokolos is a deep-sea shrimp highly adapted to the dark, hot vent habitat, living in close proximity to the vigorously venting chimney orifice where environment factors fluctuate frequently at the seconds-minutes scale, masking any detectable tidal effects in terms of temperature and chemistry. Here we tested the presence of endogenous rhythms in this species through a free-running lab experiment over 72 hours and generated a de novo transcriptome. Transcripts with the highest expressed isoforms were kept in this transcriptome.
