microRNA expression profiling in gastric cancer. (CBX80). unidentified

To identify candidate miRNAs showing aberrant expression and involving in tumorigenesis or progression of gastric cancer, we performed on 22 gastric cancer tissues and 5 normal tissues using miRNA microarray (Sanger miRBase 9.1, 470 miRNAs). Carcinoma cells were selectively collected from the tissue sections using Laser Micro Dissection, and total RNA was extracted from collected carcinoma cells. Expression profiles were statistically compared between normal and gastric cancer tissues (Mann-Whitney U-test, p<0.05, FDR<0.05), and we extracted miRNAs differentially expressed between cancer and normal tissue. We had reported messenger RNA expression profile and genome copy number aberration of gastric cancer using same samples (Tsukamoto et al. J Pathol 2008, CBX61). This experiment share the case numbers with CBX61 (Tsukamoto et al. J Pathol 2008).
