In order to refine the chronology of occupation at prehistoric sites with unusually large numbers of red abalone shells, I will collect shells for radiocarbon dating from erosion exposures at a series of such sites on western Santa Cruz Island. Some sites have not yet been dated, and others are associated with questionable radiocarbon dates.
