Real-time payments using Pix in Brazil were 110 percent higher in 2022 than during the same period one year prior. This concerns overall Pix transactions, both within the SPI as well as outside of it - although, the source mentions the majority occurs within the Instant Payment System. Pix is widely regarded as one of the more important instant payment systems - much like UPI in India or CoDi in Mexico - as they are deliberately designed to convert a relatively high unbanked Brazilian population into using more digital payments.
