资源简介:
The files in this project are all data for the analyses and figures in "Aggregation behavior and intraspecific interactions among ring-necked snakes" by Cox et al, submitted to the journal Ethology, Ecology and Evolution. This project contains four data files, and the contents of each file are described below.S1_AggregationThis file contains the number of snakes found in all aggregations in this manuscript. Column headings are "Aggregation_ID", which is the unique alphanumberical identifier of each aggregation, "Aggregation_Year", which is the calendar year in which the aggregation was found, and "Aggregation_Size", which is the number of snakes found in that aggregation. S2_AggregationThis file contains the information on all snakes found over the study period. Column headings are "SnakeID", which is the unique alphanumerical identifier for each individual snake, "Sex", which indicates whether the individual is either a male (M) or female (F), "DateCollected", which is the calendar date for when the snake was found, "Gravid", which indicates whether the snake was gravid with "1" for gravid and "0" for non-gravid (this column has no values for males), "Ecdysis", which indicates if an individual was in the process of shedding with a "1" for shedding and "0" if not, "SVL" which contains the snout-vent length as a measure of body length in millimeters, "Mass" which contains the body mass of individuals in grams, "Aggregation_ID", which contains the unique alphanumerical identifier of each aggregation, "Aggregated", which indicates whether a snake was found in an aggregation with another snake with "1" and "0" if a snake was not found in an aggregation, "Aggregate_Members", which contains the "SnakeID" values for all members of an aggregation, and "Recap", which indicates whether a snake was recaptured with "1" and "0" if not recaptured. S3_Gradient_TrialsThis file contains the data on snake behavior and body temperature in an arena either with a thermal gradient or without a thermal gradient. Column headings are "SnakeID", which is the unique alphanumerical identifier for each individual snake, "Trial_Gradient_Type", which indicates whether the trial had a thermal gradient with the value "Gradient" and those without a gradient with "Nongradient", "Snakes_in_Trial" contains the unique alphanumerical identifier for each individual in the trial with SnakeIDs separated by commas, "Aggregated", which indicates whether a snake was found in an aggregation with another snake with "1" and "0" if a snake was not found in an aggregation, "Aggregants", which indicates if snakes in the trial were all found in the same aggregation in the field with "1" and those that were not with "0", "Body_Temp" contains the snake body temperature at the end of the trial in degrees Celsius, "Touch" indicates whether the snakes were touching another snake at the end of the trial with a "1" and "0" if they are not, and "Same_Section" indicates whether snakes were found in the same of eight possible sections in the trial arena with a "1" and those that were not with "0". S4_Behavioral_Interaction_SummaryThis file contains data on snakes in a trial arena without thermal gradients and without cover objects to allow observation of behavior. Column headings are "Snake1", which contains the unique alphanumerical identifier for one of the two snakes in the trial, "Snake2", which contains the unique alphanumerical identifier for one of the two snakes in the trial, "Trial_Number", which is the number identifying the trial containing two snakes, "Aggregant", which indicates if the trial and focal snakes were found in the same aggregation in the field with "1" and those that were not with "0", "Sex", which indicates whether the individual is either a male (M) or female (F), "Touch" indicates whether the snakes touched during the trial with a "1" and "0" if they did not, "Touch_latency" indicates the latency to touch from the beginning of the trial in seconds that were assessed at 30 second intervals, "Touch_duration" is the cumulative duration of touching during the trial in seconds that were assessed at 30 second intervals, "Tongue_Flick", which indicates whether the snakes tongue-flicked during the trial with a "1" and "0" if they did not, "Tongue_Flick_Latency", which contains the latency to tongue-flick from the beginning of the trial in seconds that were assessed at 30 second intervals, and "Tongue_Flick_Duration", which contains the cumulative duration of tongue-flicking in seconds that were assessed at 30 second intervals.
