Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi, Okapia johnstoni Genome sequencing and assembly

The goal of this project was to sequence the genomes of giraffe and okapi to provide the necessary information to conduct a comparative genomics analysis between giraffe and okapi and among other mammals for the purpose of identifying genetic changes in giraffe responsible for its unique morphological and physiological characters. Okapi is a particularly useful comparison as it is closely related to giraffe but lacks giraffe unique features.
