Hot spots of activity in the cold Bering and Chukchi Seas in June 2017

This data was collected as part of NPRB project 1802, “Hot spots of activity in the cold ocean”. Samples were collected aboard the R/V Sikuliaq in 2017 as part of the ASGARD project in June of 2017. This dataset aims to describe the microbial communities in both the Bering and Chukchi Seas. Seawater samples were filtered onto 20um, 3um, and 0.2um filters to collect microbes. Metabarcoding was conducted using primers targeting the V3-V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene (bacteria and archaea), the V4 region 18S rRNA gene (eukaryotes including algae, fungi, protists, and metazoan eDNA), and the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) for fungi. Untargeted metagenomic sequencing was also conducted. Data are presented as one CSV file: ASGARD2017_bioproject_accessions.csv describing biological and chemical analysis of samples collected.
