资源简介:
This dataset comprises all data from an investigation into the role of lyrics and music in prosocial songs promoting prosocial emotions and behaviors. Data were collected between 2020 and 2023 in controlled laboratory settings. The study includes one pilot test and four experiments. The pilot test aimed to select suitable song stimuli for subsequent experiments. Using four chosen songs, along with separate music and lyric components, the four experiments aimed to compare the effects of music-alone and lyrics-alone exposure on prosocial affects and behaviors. Data_Pilot Testing.xlsx:This file contains data from a pilot test involving 66 participants. Participants evaluated features of four pre-selected songs, including prosocial degree, clarity of lyrics, liking, arousal, perceived arousal, positive mood, and negative mood. Thirty-three participants were exposed to two prosocial songs, and the other 33 to two neutral songs. The songs were well-matched in all features except the prosocial degree. Data_Exp. 1-4.xlsx:This file includes data from four experiments, each on a separate sheet. All experiments used a between-subject design, and each sheet includes participant gender, ages, experimental conditions, and behavioral results. In Exp2 and Exp4, prosocial affect data were calculated using two emotional essays and three items for each essay. The data were averaged across essays and then divided by three items. Raw data and averaged results are presented. Exp1 and Exp3 collected prosocial behavior data, while Exp2 and Exp4 collected prosocial affect data. In Exp3 and Exp4 sheets, data from Exp1 and Exp2 were copied for comparison across all four conditions.
