Saltwood Tunnel (North of), ARC SLT 99

This area of investigation consisted of a strip approximately 315m long (east-west) and ranging from approximately 35m to 50m wide (North-South). This area was directly South of the previous excavations of SLT 98 and SLT 99. Since the bulk of this area was to the South of SLT 99, this was the site code used throughout this phase of excavation. The principal features identified in this phase of excavation were a large barrow ditch, a much smaller barrow ditch, two crouch burials and an Anglo-Saxon cemetery consisting of 51 inhumations. The investigation also identified a number of linear features.
