The NOAA NCEI Global Marine Microplastics Harmonized Database during 1972-04-20 to present (NCEI Accession 0306475)

This database contains a harmonized subset of variables from the NOAA NCEI Marine Microplastics collection, which is used to generate the accompanying ArcGIS map. It includes microplastic concentration data (i.e., plastics measuring less than 5 mm; units of pieces/m3 for microplastics in water and beach, pieces/kg d.w. for microplastics in sediment, and pieces/ 10 mins for nurdles) in ocean water, sediments, beach and Nurdle Patrol from across the globe during 1972-04-20 to present. The dataset contains information on date of collection, latitude and longitude where data was collected, sampling instruments used for collection, mesh size, microplastic concentration class range, and links to publications on the data. It is updated on a Federal quarterly schedule.
