Landfarming is an ex situ bioremediation method that uses natural soil microorganisms todegrade hydrocarbon compounds. In recent decades, activities involving oil extraction andrefining have reached high levels in order to meet global demand. Oil accidents date back tothe 1990s and continue to occur today, such as the oil spill off the Brazilian coast in August2019. Thus, knowledge of the microbial community of landfarming soil is important for thedevelopment of bioremediation strategies
