Ornithogalum christiniae (Asparagaceae): A new species from an offshore islet on the Cretan area (S. Aegean, Greece)

Ornithogalum christiniae collected from the offshore islet of Agria Gramvousa (Northwestern Crete), is described and illustrated as a local endemic species, new to science. It is related to the species Ornithogalum montanum, O. atticum and O. pumilum, however, it differs from its relatives in having wrinkled and corrugated leaf surface, thickened fruiting pedicels at base, flexuose rachis of infruitescence and winged capsules. The relationships between the new species and the aforementioned are discussed, while information regarding its ecology, conservation status and karyotype is also given., The raw data are chromosomes measurements from three good metaphase plates. ## Description of the data and file structure

An excel file with the raw chromosome measurments of three good metaphase plates. The mean values of all three phases can be seen in a table in the main article published in Nordic Journal of Botany. 

Measurements include R-length (relative length of chromosomes) and r-index (arm ratio of chromosomes).
