资源简介:
Child-dense environments such as indoor playgrounds and pediatric outpatient clinics represent unique microbial exposure settings that may significantly influence the development of the immune system and long-term health outcomes in children. These environments, characterized by high population density, frequent surface contact, and varied ventilation conditions, create complex microbial ecosystems, particularly in the air. With the advancement of microbiome research technologies, including 16S rRNA gene sequencing and shotgun metagenomics, it is now possible to conduct comprehensive assessments of airborne microbial communities in these settings. This field of study aims to systematically sample and characterize airborne microbiota using high-throughput sequencing approaches to evaluate microbial diversity, community structure, and potential functional capacities. Understanding the microbial composition of these environments can provide critical insights into the ecological interactions between humans and microbes, identify potential pathogenic or beneficial species, and inform environmental design and infection control strategies that promote healthier childhood development. This research also lays the foundation for future studies linking environmental microbiomes to pediatric immune development, respiratory health, and disease susceptibility.
