VPRS 14917 Indexes to General Correspondence Files, Alpha-Numeric System

This series consists of four separate Indexes combined into a single file. This consolidated index was created by the Korumburra Water Board (VA 4723) at the time when inactive and active files were separated.It comprises:1. Original classification for the Korumburra Sewerage Authority (VA 4724) files.Physical active files at the time were allocated an alphabetical prefix SThere is no separate index for the top-numbered or newly created files.2. Original classification for the Korumburra Waterworks Trust (VA 2110) files.Physical active files were marked with a W prefix.There is no separate index for the top-numbered or newly created files.3. Original classification for the Poowong, Loch and Nyora Waterworks Trust (VA 2147) files. This classification system had a W prefix for all alpha-numeric files.4. Extended/updated classification for the Poowong, Loch and Nyora Waterworks Trust files. Prefix 'W' used for files originating from this organisation was removed and the index reflected changes and additions to the file holdings. Removal of the W prefix from the original file classification was most probably undertaken in order to avoid confusion with another file classification - top-numbered Korumburra Waterworks Trust files. Physical active files were marked with the P prefix.There is no separate index for the top-numbered or newly created files.
