454 pyrosequencing of the Triticum aestivum (bread wheat) genome to 5X coverage

Bread wheat has a hexaploid genome with a size of approximately 17GB, making it one of the largest and most complex plant genomes. Wheat is of fundamental importance to world agriculture with an estimated 2007 harvest of ~550m tonnes. In this project we have taken a whole genome shotgun sequencing approach using the 454 Titanium and new longer read (1KB) platform. We have generated 5x coverage (approximately 85GB of sequence) of the genome of community reference line Chinese Spring (CS).
