Mycolicibacterium sp. PAM1 Genome sequencing and assembly. Mycolicibacterium sp. PAM1

The genus Mycolicibacterium (Mycobacteriaceae family) is well-known for its members degrading high molecular weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which are hazardous environmental pollutants. The use of such mycobacterial degraders in association with alfalfa having ability to impart high selective pressure for PAH catabolic communities in the rhizosphere may contribute to the improvement of phytoremediation of contaminated soils. In this project, the genome of PAH-degrading Mycolicibacterium sp. PAM1 isolated from the hydrocarbon-contaminated alfalfa rhizosphere is studied in order to better understand its adaptation to habitat conditions.
