In nature, soil microorganisms are sensitive to changes in precipitation and temperature. For example, a recent experimental study demonstrated that prolonged drought resulted in a higher relative abundance of Actinobacteria and a lower relative abundance of Proteobacteria in soil. Additionally, palaeoclimate enables a better understanding and interpretation of the current distribution of soil microbial community composition. Thus, most soil bacterial taxa exhibit predictable preferences for particular ecological conditions. Together, it is worth exploring whether the present soil microbial community has the significance of indicating the paleoenvironment as well as paleoclimate inversion and future climate projections.
