Short educational documentary, "Wild elephant round-up" (Castle Films, 1941). Eugene W. Castle, editor. Filmed in Africa at the "Service de domestication des elephants" station, Léopoldville, Belgian Congo. “A band of twenty natives under the leadership of one white man sight and stalk a herd of 800 elephants into African wastelands. Armed only with ropes they succeed in capturing a number of the frightened beasts who put up a tremendous struggle, uprooting trees in their frenzy. The captured elephants are taken off among older tamed elephants.” – Educational film catalog (1943) p. 147. “Wild elephant roundup” – container. An earlier? (1930s?) version of the film exists -- silent with intertitles. 24 frames per second.
