Movie of asymmetrically developing auroral surge observed at Tjoernes and Syowa

This is a movie of an asymmetrically developing aurora surge observed at Tjornes in Iceland and Syowa Station in Antarctica on September 22, 2018. Images are captured at a time resolution of 100 frames-per-seconds by high-speed aurora imager systems consisting of an electron-multiplier charge-coupled device (EMCCD) camera (ImagEM X2 C9100-23B, Hamamatsu Photonics) and a fisheye lens (FujinonFE185C086HA-1). After performing the time averaging process and creating images every one second, the images are mapped onto the AACGM coordinates to look down on the ionosphere from space, assuming an emission altitude of 110 km.
