Data related to 62 Clinical Casefiles of Children with Lower Limb Loss/Absence from Cambodia

This dataset contains detailed clinical information from 62 casefiles, representing over 800 visits by children with lower limb loss or absence to three prosthetic centers in Cambodia. Findings derived from this dataset have been published here: Bridging the gap: retrospective clinical casefiles analysis defines the key prosthetic provision challenges for children with a major lower limb absence in Cambodia Each visit record includes comprehensive clinical notes, covering visit reasons, detailed clinical assessments, and interventions performed by prosthetists. Clinical assessments were systematically categorised into three primary groups: Growth-related issues: Includes notes explicitly mentioning growth-related factors such as socket tightness, short prostheses, or any direct reference to physical growth impacting prosthesis fit. Specific Prosthetic Components: Encompasses records mentioning component issues, specifically instances of component breakage, excessive wear, or malfunction (e.g., notes mentioning a broken foot were coded under "Foot"). Following professional recommendations by prosthetists, socket looseness was attributed to wear of the EVA foam liner. Other: Captures all additional notes not directly pertinent to growth or specific components, including referrals for surgery, provision of crutches, residual limb health issues, reports of pain, incomplete or missing data, and other clinical observations unrelated to the primary study objective. Interventions performed by prosthetists in response to identified problems were also systematically recorded, ensuring clear documentation of problem-solution pairs (e.g., broken prosthetic foot → new prosthetic foot provided). The dataset also includes comprehensive baseline information collected at the time of prosthesis provision, including types of prosthetic components utilised, condition of the residual limb, demographic characteristics of the children, and detailed amputation information (e.g., cause, level of amputation).
