This dataset supports the manuscript "HandTraumaSim: A Causal Policy Simulator for Hand Trauma Burden Based on Double Machine Learning and 13-Year Panel Data from 14 Chinese Cities" (submitted to Injury Epidemiology). DATA DESCRIPTIONThe dataset contains de-identified panel data from 14 prefecture-level cities in Hunan Province, China, spanning 2011-2023 (N=182 city-years). Variables include:- hand_trauma_cases: Annual hand trauma case count- manufacturing_share: Manufacturing share of GDP (%)- physician_density: Licensed physicians per 1000 population- road_density: Road network density (km/100km²)- gdp_per_capita: GDP per capita (yuan)- population_density: Population density (per km²)- tertiary_education: Proportion with tertiary education SOURCEData were compiled from Hunan Provincial Statistical Yearbooks (2012-2024) and Hunan Provincial Health Commission annual reports. ETHICAL NOTEAll data are aggregated at the city level with no individual identifiers. No ethical approval was required.
