Ganges and Mekong Delta Evapotranspiration Datasets

Asian Mega Deltas (AMD) are critical food baskets facing pressures from climate change, resource demand, and population growth. In the Ganges and Mekong Deltas, challenges like fluctuating water availability and upstream freshwater reductions necessitate continuous evapotranspiration (ET) monitoring for sustainable agriculture. Using Google Earth Engine's SEBAL model with ERA5-Land data and Landsat 8/9 imagery (2014–2024), this study derived monthly ET estimates. A gap-filling process addressed monsoon season cloud cover, enabling land cover and crop-specific ET trend analysis. Results reveal increasing ET trends, reflecting intensified agricultural activities and demonstrating remote sensing's scalability for regional water productivity assessments.
