Staphylococcus pseudintermedius isolated from dogs and owner

Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is linked to dogs both as a commensal and as an opportunistic pathogen. However, it might also be an underestimated opportunistic pathogen in humans. The sequenced isolates in this study are from a case of human bloodstream infection with fatal outcome caused by S. pseudintermedius and the investigation into the possible zoonotic transmission from dogs in the patient's household.
