资源简介:
Improper hospital waste management practice is alarming in developing countries because waste management is delegated to poorly educated and untrained workers. The purpose of this study is to compare the pre-with post-intervention knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of nurses and housekeepers towards waste management and factors associated with its variation. The intervention included multiple training sessions using power point presentation with appropriate illustrations. A selfadministered questionnaire containing KAP questions was used pre & post intervention. The overall KAP scores are significantly higher after intervention. The pre & post knowledge scores differ significantly according to education, job description and duration of employment (p<0.05). The pre and post attitude scores differ significantly according to education, job description (p<0.05). The post practice scores differ significantly according to sex, age, education and job description (p<0.05). There was significant improvement in KAP scores post intervention. Higher educational levels and nurses showed better Post KAP scores.
