This data provides estimates of CH4, N2O, and CO2 emissions from biomass burning and fires in organic soils. Data are available by country for 1990–2023, using the 2006 IPCC Guidelines and the Supplement on Wetlands. It includes activity data (burned area and biomass) and GHG emissions. Emissions from fires in organic soils have high uncertainties and should be used cautiously. The domain also includes data reported to the UNFCCC. The IPCC recommends using the FAOSTAT database for national greenhouse gas inventory validation.
