Metagenomic insights reveal the microbiome and functional characterization of oral, nasal and cloacal in sea turtles

This study is the first to analyze the microbial composition and functional characteristics of three sea turtle species: green sea turtle, loggerhead sea turtle and hawksbill sea turtle, three sites: oral, nasal, cloacal, through metagenomic sequencing, elucidating the unique characteristics of the sea turtle microbiome, while assessing the risk of pathogens carried by sea turtles. These findings provide valuable scientific insights into the artificial conservation and release of sea turtles.
