This study seeks to characterize airway epithelial mRNA and miRNA expression under a variety of experimental conditions. Samples are available from primary human cell cultures as well as cell lines grown under a variety of experimental conditions as documented in the phenotype and conditions associated with each individual sample. For some experiments, cells on plastic were exposed to cigarette smoke condensate to evaluate the effects of smoking. FOSL1 is a target gene for regulation by MIR34A family microRNAs. ]]> Primary airway epithelial cells and a cell line prepared and grown using non-proprietary and well described methods (PMID: 23097104 and PMID: 18978040) and meeting established quality control parameters were included. In addition, commercially available cell line controls from normal and disease conditions were included with details associated with each sample in the metadata tables. For the human lung specimens, tissue samples were from previously normal organ donors with no history of chronic lung disease but whose lungs were unused for transplant.]]>
